This program showcases the dynamic evolution of jazz, blending timeless classics with contemporary compositions. Featuring works by legends like Mary Lou Williams and Tadd Dameron alongside pieces by Paul Ferguson and student composers, the program reflects both tradition and innovation.

Guest artist is an acclaimed saxophonist, composer, and educator based in Akron, Ohio. A graduate of Youngstown State University and the University of Akron, he has performed with jazz greats such as Slide Hampton and Sean Jones. His multimedia work Nine Lives premiered at the Rubber City Jazz and Blues Festival in 2019. Coles currently teaches at Oberlin Conservatory and The University of Akron and is a Yamaha Performing Artist.

Florence Harkness Memorial Chapel (est. 1902) is known for its Tiffany stained-glass windows, soaring arches, and exquisite woodwork. The neo-Gothic structure, located on Mather Quad at °Ç¸çºÚÁÏ (Cleveland, OH), commemorates the brief life of Florence Harkness Severance. The chapel offers a warm, intimate, and acoustically resonant space for Department of Music performances, lectures, and special events.
