Join Historical Performance Practice doctoral student Bruno Lunkes for an afternoon recital featuring substantial works by J.S. Bach, Heinrich Biber, Arcangelo Corelli, and Jean-Marie Leclair.

About the Artist

Bruno Lunkes is currently pursuing a DMA in Historical Performance Practice at °Ç¸çºÚÁÏ under Dr. Julie Andrijeski. He holds Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from Texas Tech University, where he first explored the baroque violin. Bruno has studied with Reynaldo Patiño and Luís Otávio Santos and has collaborated with renowned early music artists such as Monica Huggett, Jaap ter Linden, and Enrico Gatti. He has performed at prestigious festivals including the Oregon Bach Festival’s Berwick Academy, Boston Early Music Festival’s Fringe Concert Series, and Early Music America’s Young Performers Festival, as well as with esteemed ensembles like the Atlanta Baroque Orchestra, ARTEK Early Music, Oberlin Baroque Ensemble, and Bach Society Brazil. Recent highlights include solo performances of Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 in Blankenburg, Germany, and serving as co-concertmaster of the Heliosfero Academy Orchestra in Lyon, France.


Venue

Florence Harkness Memorial Chapel (est. 1902) is known for its Tiffany stained-glass windows, soaring arches, and exquisite woodwork. The neo-Gothic structure, located on Mather Quad at °Ç¸çºÚÁÏ (Cleveland, OH), commemorates the brief life of Florence Harkness Severance. The chapel offers a warm, intimate, and acoustically resonant space for Department of Music performances, lectures, and special events.

The CWRU Music Concert Series offers free concerts and student recitals in the stunning Harkness Chapel. These performances highlight the exceptional talents of CWRU students and faculty, providing the broader community with opportunities to enjoy high-quality live music in an intimate and historic setting.
