Krista Mitchell has joined the Oberlin Conservatory Library as the Librarian for Learning and Access Services.
Mitchell brings a strong background in music, musicology, and librarianship to the role. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music (Voice) from Oklahoma City University, where she specialized in music theater, as well as a Master of Arts in Musicology and a Master of Library Science from Indiana University Bloomington. She is currently completing her PhD in Musicology at °Ç¸çºÚÁÏ.
Her extensive experience includes work with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum Library and Archives, the Cleveland Orchestra Archives, and the Library of Congress Music Division, where she served as a research and cataloging intern. She also worked at the Indiana University Cook Music Library, supporting a wide range of music research initiatives.
At Oberlin, Mitchell oversees learning and access services within the Conservatory Library, focusing on research skills instruction, reference services, and public musicology. Her passion for helping students and researchers connect with resources and develop critical research skills is central to her new role.
