CWRU team for 2024 Intelligent Water System challenge competition

The CWRU team led by Professor Xiong (Bill) Yu received the first prize in the 2024 Intelligent Water System challenge competition organized by Water Research Foundation and Water Environmental Federation.

The team presented an intelligent water solution titled ‘AI-Platform for Accurate Water Supply Network Leakage Detection and Localization’. This is a collective effort involving PhD students Xudong Fan (currently an assistant professor at the University at Buffalo) and Ayomide (Zul) Kazeem, freshman undergraduate Allen Yu, and collaboration partner Cleveland Water Department.

The work is based on pioneering research at Dr. Yu’s group that aims at  improving water system management. Mr. Alex Margevicius our Department alumni and CWD commissioner has provided tremendous guidance from agency perspective. Zul delivered a starring final pitch for the team.
