扒哥黑料鈥檚 Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Center is hosting a series of LGBTQ+ allyship trainings for faculty and staff.
鈥淪afe Zone Friend鈥 covers essential LGBTQ+ vocabulary, discusses the nuances of sexuality and gender as spectrums and provides participants with practical tips for being an LGBTQ+ inclusive ally on campus. These sessions will be held Jan. 9 (virtual), Feb. 8 and March 20 from 2 to 4:30 p.m.
鈥淭rans Allyship 101鈥 goes in-depth on transgender identity and allyship. This presentation covers:
- The differences among sex, gender and sexuality,
- Discussion of what it means to be transgender and what transition can look like,
- Common misconceptions about trans adults and trans children,
- An overview of issues facing transgender people, and
- Practical ways to be a trans-inclusive ally.
鈥淭rans Allyship 101鈥 sessions are offered Jan. 24, Feb. 13 (virtual) and March 28 from 2 to 4 p.m.
In the 鈥淧ronoun Workshop,鈥 participants will practice using gender-neutral pronouns in conversation and learn why proper pronoun use matters. This workshop answers:
- What are pronouns?
- What are gender-neutral and neopronouns?
- How do I use gender-neutral and neopronouns?
- Why are pronouns important?
Participants will practice using gender-neutral and neopronouns through partnered activities.
The 鈥淧ronoun Workshop鈥 will be offered Feb. 1, Feb. 28 (virtual) and April 9 from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
