The Case CVRI laboratories provide basic, translational and clinical research opportunities, therefore extending beyond traditional training environments in the CWRU School of Medicine. The close juxtaposition of the laboratories fosters a highly collaborative and interactive milieu conducive to bridging basic science studies with attention to clinical impact. CVRI faculty include PhD and/or MD principal investigators with track records of mentoring post-doctoral trainees and students from Graduate program and/or MSTP pathways and employ both interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research approaches. Trainees have access to CVRI faculty for additional vertical mentoring and career development guidance and feedback from their scientific presentations.
The CVRI has been a hub for Cardiovascular T32 training grant opportunities when available and through which research in progress seminars and journal club engagement fortify experiential learning in the laboratory.
