Familiar faces abound at Case Western Reserve. But there’s one person in particular who people may recognize from more than simply a passing glance on the quad; his is a familiar face from the big screen.

�Ǹ���� School of Law has dozens of law alumni occupying prominent positions in government agencies, international organizations, NGOs, corporations and law firms around the world.

From the attack on the U.S. Capitol to social justice and Supreme Court cases and to the health law concerns around the global pandemic, the expertise and insight of the School of Law’s faculty at �Ǹ���� were at the forefront of the stories making headlines nationally and internationally.

Jessie Hill, the Judge Ben C. Green Professor of Law and associate dean for research and faculty development at �Ǹ���� School of Law, has been interviewed by several prominent national and international media outlets regarding abortion and the U.S. Supreme Court. 

It’s an adage among real estate lawyers that when preparing for a transaction, it’s best to “walk the property.” Examining the property firsthand opens the lawyer’s eyes to the property’s unique features and any potential challenges that may arise when carrying out the transaction.  

A year-long collaboration between U.S. Congressman Michael Turner (LAW ’85) and U.S. Marine Capt. Dylan Klossner (LAW ’15) has resulted in the filing of an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court.

When an international crisis hits, Christopher Rassi (CWR ’00; GRS ’00, political science; MGT ’03; LAW ’03) likely is in the thick of it.

Leon Gabinet, longtime tax law professor at the �Ǹ���� School of Law, passed away on Dec. 6, 2021, at age 94. He is survived by his children Sarah (LAW '82), Katie and Ari, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Each year, �Ǹ���� bestows the Faculty Distinguished Research Awards on those whose work has driven advancements in their field.

�Ǹ���� (CWRU) School of Law Co-Dean Michael Scharf spent three days at Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS), the law school's partner school in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Oct. 31–Nov. 2. He was the guest of University President Dr.

The �Ǹ���� Ault Mock Trial teams swept the top three spots at the Case Classic Mock Trial Competition, held Nov. 13–14 at the School of Law.

Delanté Spencer Thomas, director of JD Advantage Advising and Outreach at �Ǹ���� School of Law, has been named to Crain's Cleveland Business 2021 Forty Under 40.

President Joe Biden has nominated Marisa Darden, an adjunct professor at �Ǹ���� School of Law, as the next U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio. If confirmed, Darden will be the first Black woman to hold this position.

The Shaker Schools Alumni Hall of Fame has added two members of the �Ǹ���� (CWRU) School of Law community to its distinguished ranks: Ayesha Bell Hardaway (LAW ‘04) and Mark Davies Griffin (LAW ‘94).
